Things to Do Before Seriously Getting Into Being a Freelancer

The hype grips your attention.  The banner ads suggest a novel idea: You can earn from the Internet! You read it again, and in partial disbelief, you say how timely it is. Your job security is at risk due to the worldwide economic recession. . Your frustration with your current work pushes you to the brink of leaving the brick and mortar world. Ideas flash in your mind.  You get more excited.  Finally, you decide to give it a try.
But wait!  Hold that excitement. Imagine yourself in a war zone where many think of have attempted but failed.  For the art of war and the art of marketing are the same.  The soldier prepares for battle without haste. To help you start out, equip yourself first with these important principles:
Be thankful for having a regular work when many others have been receiving company shut down notices.  Being grateful for what you have will lead you to a better path when the time to leave your employer comes.  Opportunity shies away from people who are busy blaming and complaining.  Likewise, it readily appears to those who are ready to receive it and handle the responsibilities it entails.
Take it slowly.  Never rush things, especially decisions.  You are still in a proper place at a proper time.  Since you have been in the corporate world for most of your career life, going into the online business is completely different.  It's like getting into a play, you need to warm up.  Warming up makes a smooth transition as it conditions all your elements to harmonize with the new environment.
Never resign at once.  The good thing about Internet marketing is the flexibility it offers to aspirants and players.  You can start by allotting 2 to 3 hours a day Googling possible niches to deal with, reading good articles on Internet marketing, visiting successful and relevant sites, or taking a course that offers hands-on training.  Some weeks after, you may try doing ad and promotion to test your market and self-readiness.  When you have relatively enough feel of the Internet marketing world, you are like to have a more objective decision.
Make a self-assessment.  What is your passion and what are the things that you really want to do?  Count the cost and analyze your finances. Will you be able to meet the budget requirements at home and in the business while undergoing transition?  Reflect on your positive and negative attitudes that might affect or influence the way your run your online business.  Review also your skills and stock knowledge that would be relevant to your new choice.
While you can apply many lessons and experiences you gained from your previous occupations, you also need to continue learning new things to upgrade your expertise. These lessons are intended to support and guide you in your new goals to success.  The road to it is still a long one but the very first steps are essential.
